I remember when our long‑time captain at the club finally announced his retirement after a decade of leading us on and off the field. It was a mix of nostalgia and relief – we all wanted to give him a proper farewell, so we organized a little ceremony after the last match, invited the fans, and even had a short video montage of his best tries and tackles. Seeing the stadium erupt in applause made me realize how much a well‑planned send‑off means to a player and the supporters alike, and I think Džeko deserves exactly that kind of respect, whether it comes in the Champions League or a specially arranged tribute at Roma.
For me, Džeko’s most unforgettable moment was that clinical hat‑trick against Juventus in the 2021‑22 Serie A season – the way he found space in the box, lifted the ball past Szczęsny and turned the game on its head. It reminded me of the time I scored the winning try in a tight derby after months of hard work; the sheer joy of seeing everything click together is something only a few athletes ever get to feel. I’d love to see him get a proper standing ovation, perhaps a short ceremony before his final game, with former teammates and a quick look back at those key goals that defined his journey.
