Trossard’s ankle‑bone swelling is a real blow, especially because he’s been one of the most creative outlets on the left flank. Without his ability to cut inside and link up with the midfield, Beşiktaş loses a lot of verticality and that extra 0‑1‑2 passing triangle that often unlocks tight defenses. In the short term, we’ll see a dip in the number of pre‑assists and a heavier reliance on the wing‑back to supply crosses, which could make the attack a bit more predictable for the next opponent. That said, the win over Marseille shows the squad can adapt. Coach Şen has already shifted the shape to a 4‑2‑3‑1 with the central attacking midfielder dropping deeper, turning the team into a more compact unit that overloads the middle. If they keep the double pivot and let the central striker become the focal point of the final third, they can still create space for the wingers to exploit the half‑spaces. Adding a more aggressive pressing trigger on the midfield line will also compensate for the missing forward press that Trossard usually provides. In practice, I’d suggest bringing in a more versatile player like Çolak or rotating the right side with a forward‑type wing‑back to keep the width. A quick switch to a 3‑5‑2 for the upcoming match could also help, as it adds an extra centre‑back to absorb pressure while allowing the wing‑backs to push high and supply the lone striker. The key is to keep the tempo high and avoid over‑relying on set‑pieces; otherwise the lack of Trossard’s creative spark might become too obvious.
